Last time, Jesus was rebuffed at every turn. Even as the
prophets and John the Baptist foretold his coming, he was nevertheless
disbelieved, chased away, persecuted, tortured and finally put to death by the
reigning authorities and many of the people. His teachings were just too
revolutionary, so out of this world.
The rich and powerful will always do everything in their power to maintain the status quo and preserve their way of life. The Christian Churches today are pretty much the same as the Sanhedrin of yesterday, in this regard. The Truth is irrelevant to them. And it is natural for most people to hold to their long-held beliefs and practices. Change and progress can be painful and difficult for many. Much more so for the unthinking masses and narrow-minded fundamentalists.
So the way of Christ will be fraught with many hardships and challenges, the same as before, perhaps even worse. What should you do now before he arrives to prepare for his coming and what will you do when he finally does? Will you reject him like so many will and turn away from him and his radical new teachings or will you help him towards the completion of his work?
Everyone of course will insist that they want to help, but not everyone will. Talk is cheap. And it is so easy to forget. But even assuming that you really are determined to do the right thing, you may be asking yourself, “How?”
Well, it’s real easy, actually. And you won’t even need to do anything you don’t want to. In fact, you can already help a lot just by doing the usual things you do every day.
